{"id":32,"date":"2006-06-16T11:53:27","date_gmt":"2006-06-16T10:53:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.igalia.com\/eocanha\/?p=32"},"modified":"2015-11-08T00:21:16","modified_gmt":"2015-11-07T23:21:16","slug":"using-gpg-with-kmail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eocanha.org\/blog\/2006\/06\/16\/using-gpg-with-kmail\/","title":{"rendered":"Using GPG with KMail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every time I need to use GPG, I do it from the command line, but now I am wondering how to configure KMail in order to use all the GPG features from my favorite mail client.<\/p>\n<p>To configure KMail, I followed the <a href=\"http:\/\/kmail.kde.org\/kmail-pgpmime-howto.html\">instructions at KMail website<\/a>, but with some variations to make it work in Debian Sarge.<\/p>\n<p>I already had KMail, gnupg, kdepim, etc&#8230; installed, so, the only packages I had to install were pinentry-qt and gpg-agent. I didn&#8217;t have to compile gpg-agent, because it was already in Sarge.<\/p>\n<p>I had to configure .gnupg\/pgp-agent.conf as said in the link but putting the right pinentry path, and had to create the .kde\/env\/gpgagent.sh containing the &#8220;eval&#8221; line.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all. I did all the tests and it worked well. The only thing that I couldn&#8217;t do was to cipher using S\/MIME, because the public key list was empty. I&#8217;ll do more research on that when I&#8217;ve more time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>By the way, you can download <a href=\"http:\/\/pgp.mit.edu:11371\/pks\/lookup?search=0x723CBB9A&#038;op=vindex\">my public key from here<\/a>.
